The eleventh edition of JONAHmagazine, after some hesitation and hot weather, has circled back to port to take on its remaining consigned cargo–its poetry–and add it to the short stories, some fiction, some creative non-fiction, before returning to sea to continue its mission. We hope for an exciting but safe cruise, without storm or marauding pirates to assault our ship. As always, Jonah himself sleeps peacefully in the hold, dreaming sweet dreams of escape and transformation. He will surely awaken soon, dreading the storm. We will tack the warmer, milder winds towards more optimistic harbours if we can, yet keeping an alert eye out for that storm. JONAH’s extended sea odyssey continues, searching for a shifting home port. The writing in this new issue is once again quite varied, displaying the characteristics which we seek, described on our ABOUT page. We continue to choose carefully among many submissions of high quality.
Our next edition is planned for early winter of 2020. Then, in the northern hemisphere where our editors live, winter will again engulf us. We hope that for our readers, the writing in this issue will warm them if they are cold, cool them if they are hot. By the next issue, number 12, days will again be short. We will sit huddled together for warmth, and again read from our ongoing collection of poetry and prose. We wish you a bon voyage!
